When Andrew & Kristen contacted me about photographing their wedding at Kristen’s family’s fishing camp, I was so incredibly excited!! Not only is the concept of a laid back outdoor wedding at a meaningful location really awesome, but this camp is seriously so iconic in terms of Sioux Lookout. It’s just off the main road into town and sits on a point right by a set of rapids. If you’ve ever driven to Sioux Lookout, there’s a pretty good chance you’ll recognize it. The camp is in such a beautiful location, and I loved photographing their wedding there!!
In case you couldn’t tell from the above photos, it was such a cold & wet day for an outdoor wedding (it even started out snowing as the girls were getting ready in the morning!), but seriously EVERYONE was amazing about it!! Guys pitched in to wipe off ceremony chairs, gals ran out for umbrellas, several guests stood for the ceremony, the bride was totally chill about the girls using awesome blankets during the ceremony and then wearing their plaid getting ready shirts for some photos (not to mention the bride was a total rockstar when it came to handling the cold!), the list could go on and on. I think everyone was just too ecstatic to be at Andrew & Kristen’s wedding to care about the weather!! <3
Hair & makeup happened literally right down the street from my house, which was super convenient for me… haha! The hair stylists (including Kaden Anderson of Sioux Lookout) and makeup artist (JMN Beauty in Dryden) did such incredible work, and there was no shortage of laughter among the bridesmaids!!!! Also, I was greeted by the sweetest pup, so you know it’s gonna be a good day then!! <3
We then headed to Frog Rapids Camp, where the girls got dressed inside one of the cabins.

More processional…
Some ceremony photos (not including the bride & groom). Also, every wedding should have a ukelele player, just saying!
And now for the ceremony photos including the bride & groom!! I loved all the cute and fun expressions coming from them! SERIOUSLY HOW FUN ARE THEY?!?!?!?!?!? And this set of photos made me realize that I could never get rid of my 70-200mm lens, despite its massive size and weight… it’s so, so dreamy.
While waiting for family & bridal party members for their chance at photos with the bride & groom, we grabbed some quick couple shots by the “Fish House” because I’m seriously obsessed with this little building!!
And then it was time for portraits of the lovely bride. Again, it was flippin’ cold, and you cannot even tell, nor did she complain once about the frigid weather. My kind of bride!! <3
And oh the faces of the groom - such a character in some of his photographs, but also such a gentleman!! :D
Some of the bride and her family…
And some of the groom with his family…
Pro tip: Always, always, always enlist the help of a cute kiddo to make your bridal party smile.

Finally! My absolute FAVOURITE portion of the wedding day is the newlywed photos!! And again, I loooooooooved the location!
Simply because B&W images will always have my heart <3
Also, Emma of EKT Photography in Dryden, Ontario CRUSHED the couple portraits. This next set of images is all her, and I couldn’t be more pleased to have had her second shooting with me on this adventurous day!!! <3 Hit her up for portraits before she heads of to live in Australia this upcoming year!
And now for some photographs by the rapids…
Black & white for dayyyyyyzzzzz…
It’s so fun having a second shooter, because not only is it someone to capture the moments that I might miss, but it’s also a chance to get some sweet behind the scenes photos of me doing what I love! Thought I’d throw a couple of them into this blog post, just for kicks…
One more of the newlyweds prior to a sneak peek into the reception!
I think this reception had the most dancing of any wedding I’ve ever attended or photographed. Everyone was having a blast, and there are so many crazy fun images to prove it!! Here’s just a sampling…
And I’ll leave you with this beautiful image, again by Emma of EKT Photography.
Thank you so so very much to Andrew & Kristen for entrusting me with the responsibility of capturing your special day!! I really enjoyed getting to know you better, as well as hanging out with your bridal party and families. All the best as you continue your lifelong journey together!
